Our handmade holiday: the treehouse

Here it is! Jared and I have been working on it for weeks. I made the people and furniture and collected little critters. Jared did everything that required power tools. We're so pleased with how it turned out. The kids have been playing with it all morning. What do you think?

I wasn't set on a handmade holiday just because we don't have money. Or because I have something against buying toys.

It's just that you just can't buy something like this at Walmart. It's infused with love and thoughtful care. From the silk floor to the acorn caps to the miniature Christmas tree, everything is made from natural materials and is so wonderful to touch. There's nothing else quite like it in the world. You can easily envision little elves with their miniature tools building it.

To my children, with love.

This is incredible!!!!!! I can't believe how magical and original you have been not counting the countless hours. I'll bet you had the best time watching them enjoy this creation. This is acutally the fulfillment of a childhood fantasy of mine. How sweet to see it come true for my grandchildren.

It's so wonderful! My grandfather once made me a dollhouse that looked like his house for Christmas (still have it) and it is one of my favorite presents ever. I bet your kids enjoy and remember this for a long time.

Whoa Nellie - I pretty much stand all amazed. The love, craftsmanship and creative design involved in this thing are impressive and exciting. With your permission, I will bookmark it and strap my husband to a chair in front of the screen till he catches the vision. Of COURSE you're not going to find something like this - anywhere. I did find one - and it was a bit more elaborate - but it was in an art museum and the price tag on it was breathtaking. But there is no price tag on love, and what you have given your children here - wow.

What a great present!! Ella would love something like that. This year is going to be mostly hand made too. Made with love beats store-bought every time.
